Learn, Explore and have Fun

The Gulgong Gold Experience  has been excavated into the slopes of Red Hill and incorporates the original commissioned tile mural that was erected in 1988 depicting the gold leads of the Gulgong.  This  interesting building serves as the information hub for the facility and houses detailed audio and visual displays of Gulgong’s gold history. On entry, visitors are given an insight into life on the gold fields with the enlarged Holtermann photograph of a puddling scene, along with an original dray.

The underground theme is carried on through the replica underground mining tunnel which is tunnelled into the back wall with interesting features to explore and stories to be told.

Once above ground, the examples of quartz rock, the view down the original mine shaft and the tranquil view over Red Hill, form part the Gulgong Gold Experience.

For those who are a little more adventurous, panning activities are available.  As gold is difficult to find we have an  activity bag which can be purchased for $5 per bag  including pan hire. Visitors who purchase one of these bags are  guaranteed to find something special.  Once you have learned the art of panning you will be capable of panning in areas where you are more likely to find gold.  So come along and have some fun swirling and washing.
